The 2013 vintage, the best since 2007, produced powerful Cabernets that promise to be exceptionally long lived. We blended this Cabernet in 2016 after more than two years of aging of the components in French and American oak barrels in our cave. We bottled half of it in 2018, after an additional two years in the barrel. We left half in the barrel for an additional year, for a total of 5 years and 3 months. During this extended aging, we lost about 25% to the angel’s share while monitored, topped, and tasted the barrels regularly. It’s a labor of love, an art form. You’ll taste a depth and uniqueness of flavor that can be achieved no other way.
