Rick and Laura Wilson's Ruanning Rabbit Ranch lies on a west facing slope at the top of Sonoma Valley. Its rocky volcanic soil produces intensly flavored grapes. Specialized whole berry fermentation captured this terroir in the wine.
Malbec's focus is at the bottom back of your palate with blackberry flavors. Cabernet Franc gives the Malbec lift and a chocolate note. The Zinfandel accentuates floral, spice and round oak nuances in the mid-palate. The tannins are soft and the finish long.
The 2012 vintage was stellar. It produced elegant wines with great depth with an emphasis on fruit. This wine is very enjoyable now and will age well for at least 10 more years.
