Meritage Red Wine

Our 1999 Meritage is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. As is always the case with our Meritage blends, the ratio of the different varietals in the final blend is done by taste. The first blend is done after the separate components have been in the barrel for about 7 months. The second blending is done in year two, the final just before bottling.
We selected our favorite barrels from 7 separate vineyard lots. The diversity of Appellation and terroir added great depth and perfect balance to this wine. Three years of barrel aging smoothed the edges and added complexity. We produced 1,000 cases.
